I think this is the most amazing video of all. What an incredible, strange, embarrassing, exhilerating, comical time this was. So: We’re in Switzerland – in the middle of the Alps in Leukerbad – a ski resort above the town of Leuk. I am here skiing with my Swiss family, who have returned to this resort in part because of the enormous and incredible public baths they have here.
The 4-floor Burgerbad, with thermal-fed hot tubs, pool, spas, slides as far as the eye can see, was the perfect opportunity to do a little Shakespeare Aloud. I had started Midsummer in Stratford-upon-Avon last week, and I was now at the crazy parts – the manic Act III through the woods.
Could anything crazier be happening? Oh yeah, it’s also SNOWING. So we’re all in our swim suits cavorting outside for hours on end and you’ll see later the snow storm turns into a blizzard and makes us go in.
I HOPE THIS IS THE FIRST TIME ANYONE HAS EVER READ SHAKESPEARE ALOUD ON A WATER SLIDE. At least a thermal fed water slide, anyway.
We are using a waterproof camera that my friend Ivo luckily owned. The plus is you can film underwater. The minus is the sound is really, really bad… But hey, it’s a waterproof speaker on a hand held snap shot camera that also makes video. What more could one ask?
